Another painting journey begins

After it dries I will be putting some kind of interference painting on the lighter parts to symbolize spirit. Probably an irridescent fading upward. No leafing or anything too flashy. I will also likely darken the edges.

The weather was mild here today so it was perfect for oil painting with adequate ventilation. This is a big painting. I haven't even measured it. I framed it in the studio and then painted outside. It was so great. The actual paint color is French Ultramarine.

The painting will be called Two (Vault). I've already painted Three. One might happen some day. (I've never given numbers in correct order so why should I paint that way?)

From Genesis 6:  And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

An interesting metaphor I'm using in therapy with my EMDR work has to do with ships, ports, anchors, journeys and destinations. Also, I just happened to find out Cody's concept for the new album is closely aligning with these images/ideas. (Weird? I think not.) It's a great concept and once he's ready to share I might have him guest blog about it. At the very least I will interview him and post it here.

Love the color ( I know I told you that last night, but...)! Also, you really captured the heaving of the water; I can't wait to see the whole thing in person - I already saw part of it on your hands Wed. night! ;-)

Do you know Yves Klein? I could fall into his monochromatic blue paintings. The bottom half reminds me of that a bit. Love. http://www.yveskleinarchives.org/works/works3_us.html
