Pyrrha Jewelry
So, recently while paging through the latest Wichita local/trendy magazine I found this "wax seal" silver and bronze jewelry by Pyrrha for sale at the Aspen Boutique.
Two thoughts popped into my head:
1. Wow! Isn't that gorgeous!
2. Oh no, now it looks as though I've copied them!
(Since then I've had lots of other thoughts about all this: Wax seals have happened for years. Signet rings have happened for years. I pressed Nanny's antique Fleur de Lis button into metal clay (because I did not yet know how to cast a mold) and happened upon the "wax seal" look.
These are the earrings I'm wearing today:
Dang. What in the world are you supposed to do when something like this happens?
While I get over my "issues" with this you really should take a look at what they do with pearls and read their story.

My thought is to keep on keeping on. Don't most artists duplicate processes to learn specific techniques? If using the same process to learn a technique yields a similar product, so what? I guess this is why we have two movies about the same subject coming out at the same time from two different sources ... creativity is in the air or possibly in the energy. Just keep following your own creative spirit. I love watching you learn. Thanks for sharing your process with me and others.
Love,
K
Maybe it wouldn't be okay if you were using the same exact seals, but you're using buttons. Maybe it wouldn't be okay if you were TRYING to copy them. That's my 0.02$.
I wouldn't be worried. I had the same thought as I make wax seal jewelry as well.
It started from my love of old victorian wax seals and my love of pmc.
I had never heard of this company till recently even though they are a Canadian Company and I am in Canada.
I thought Im not using the same wax seals, and I came upon this on my own. Its not like ideas arent used and resused in this world.
I've heard about this too. The style is becoming more and more popular, but I don't know where it originated. Maybe a lot of people had the same idea to make wax seal jewelry all at the same time. In any case, you weren't intentionally trying to copy, so you shouldn't worry about it. It's not like you're copying the exact same designs.
