I know I've been going on and on about the copper clay, and how much I like it more than handling the silver clay, but last night I tried two new types of silver clay---ACS650 and ACS slow dry. This clay was harder to handle than any I've worked with yet. That said, I still can't get over how amazed I am every time these dingy clay things turn into such beauty. This solid silver is so brilliant it's almost white. No patina on these, ever!
I'm going to make a pair of wedding earrings or two from these particular pairs. I've already got the pearls and crystal. They will be pricey, but they will be heirloom quality.
I'm excited about the posts I made and assembled to the silver clay for the pair pictured by itself. The posts are made from Argentium silver and I came up with the functionality of the design. I fired them with a torch, balled the silver and cliped the extra wire off the back. I even learned an easy way to straighten wire: roll the section between two flat surfaces. Sounds like a no-brainer, but I had to figure it out for myself. These posts will never move.
