My favorite bands are: Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips & Vehicles. This is in no particular order & to try and place them in any kind of order would scramble my brain.
The Flaming Lips tested my loyalty with The Terror tour but I think that's just because I wasn't adequately prepared for the whiplash it not-so-gently ushered in. (I really should read the news sometimes.) Ultimately, The Terror commanded respect (even if I couldn't listen to it) because it was authentic. How can an artist help it if his vision changes? It would have been cliche and damaging to see them fake their old vibe...& then they really would have been lost to me forever.
The new EP (reviewed here)
is some kind of a bridge back to The Lips, but they are forever changed...and change happens.
Disillusionment doesn't scare me like it used to.
