More work on The Dreamers

The next step will be to add a subtle rainbow effect---lighter than I did with this one.

I'm using a wax resist, which I applied vertically for the first time ever.

Usually the wax drips in bubble dots but b/c of the vertical application on this one it's mostly falls and runs. I did purposely manipulate the wax over some of the gold feathers to keep some of the gold bright.

 ...and now I just have to wait for the wet canvas to dry. It's winter and it's freezing in the studio (I used the kiln to warm it up today b/c the space heater just wasn't cutting it) so it could be weeks. 

 

But really...the beauty of oil paint is so worth it.
