So far Untitled

It doesn't really work to take a photo of this one. See how it looks like a different painting under different light? Oil is just SO much more lively to paint with than acrylic. I could paint with oil on this scale every day.

So here's a video of it instead. Oh and sorry you have to tip your head or computer to the left. Couldn't figure the turn thing out on Cody's computer.

EDIT:
K---I used 4 colors: Sap Green, Pthalo Blue, Buff and Yellow Ochre. The Buff is the lightest.

I just wanted to be clear it isn't painted like the flat whites in an impressionism painting---the flashes of white on the canvas are reflection due to brush stroke and friction. It's thick, pure oil paint but has little rise---so in person it looks rich and smooth but faceted.

The light play flashes as you move around the painting and certain sections look silver or white when the pigment itself is dark blue or green. As I laid on the park bench I thought, "A glossy leaf reflects light...A glossy enough paint stroke could the same!"

Also, if you look out your car window next time you are driving along a highway notice how distance causes a gradient blue haze that gets fuzzier the farther your eyes see. I have long thought about how I could capture that with one brush. (I think I found a way to do this via this painting...look where the trees go back...now I want to play with this idea more.) I have always used only 1 brush on my paintings since it garners a sure-shot uniformity but I might be willing to change that now. I passed a ripe green (and blue and white and ochre) wheat field this morning....

Awesome. You said that you didn't use white, but did you add white make your lighter colors? And, is it the back brush stroke or the friction caused by brush strokes in different directions that carries the light?
