Mimesis Lent 'Zine 2010

Art Imitates Life. Life Imitates Art. Mimesis. I believe it is possible for both statements to be true. Thankfully I do not have to decide which statement thrills me more. I am just excited about the relationship, and the growing evidence for each cause in my life.

An anonymous commenter left me a note of encouragement on the self portrait #2 post.

I agree that my blog is more "original" than it used to be. I am glad to know it is not going unnoticed; thank you. I myself have become more authentic in the last year and have curiously watched my art imitate life. It would not be possible for any of this to happen, though, if I weren't also imitating art. I create because I was created. This means my life is also imitating art.

All this to announce the theme of this year's Lent 'zine: Mimesis.

I would love to include the artwork/poetry/writings of others this year. Please think about what the word Mimesis means in your life and see if it inspires you to contribute to this year's 'zine. I'll do whatever I can to include as many perspectives as possible. Spread the word if you think you know someone else who might be interested in contributing.

I will post more information about reserving copies in the coming weeks.
