I woke up with this idea in my head. Was pleased with how it actually turned out. I'll probably make several more of these---and use sheet solder so it doesn't splatter all over. You get the idea of the poppy, though.
Wanted to try this simple idea ever since I saw it in a bead magazine. Love the turquoise!

These crosses were an ambitious second piercing project. It got a little crazy and I wasn't liking it. It's frustrating that silver is so expensive. That's always a factor for me when I'm not liking the way a design comes out. I was tense and it only led to more saw blades breaking. I actually had to go outside and breathe and walk around the building just before sawing out that last cross.
When I returned my friend Ben encouraged me to keep going---he called my ring a "snowflake" saying that if I'd wanted perfect crosses I should have gone to a prefab catalog. He was right because once Rodger suggested the rails on the side I began to love this heavy chunk of silver.
I still have to blacken the crosses and polish it, but thought I'd share part of the process.

oh man, the poppy ring is awesomeness. the others are good, but i reeeeeely like the poppy.
