Ten things San Francisco taught me.

Don't be surprised when you plan something, your friends plan something, and God has plans to trump it all.

Don't be afraid of turning around, and pausing for beauty.

Don't be afraid of believing in Fairy Tales.

Don't be afraid to wait for what you really want. (Don't miss moments like these for anything in the world.)

Don't pass up a chance to know more of God's beautiful creatures, His creation, a glimpse of Himself.

Don't let practicality stop you from humoring someone's wacky side.

Don't let money stop you from spending an entire day exactly as you want.

Don't let anything stop you from creating a beautiful, make-believe ladder that's full of deep meaning which needs to be shared. (More to come on this one.)

Don't ever let anyone try to tell you pink and red don't go together. (Ask Yves.)

Don't let physical distance fool your heart into thinking that it is greater than what God ordained.

Hey thanks for posting these! Did Joey just get engaged? I am glad to have "been" there.

I have been following your blog for quite some time. I cannot comment much, because China is constantly blocking blogger, but this time it open.

How you guys doing? I have gotten a kick out of stalking your fam kids incognito. What a great family you have!

Coming back to China anytime soon?

oops I re-read that previous comment, and it sounds a bit scary! I am NOT actually stalking your kids! :) ... Just Cody.

Tell everyone I said hi.

Wow, what a ladder of memories you've got from this weekend! I'm glad you didn't know about the "no cameras" rule at the museum--love the pink and red. Always have--remember I decorated my bedroom in pink and red in the 60's. You'll just have to get to SF more often!

Josh,
I don't have an email for you---and I know firsthand how China can be about internet stuff.

Yes, Joey got engaged. His girlfriend invited us out to SF to surprise him for his bday---He called the night before we left to say he was going to ask her to marry him "this weekend". Cody and I had to play cool-as-a-cucumber---both of them had surprises in store that weekend. It was SOOOOO fun! We love the girl he is marrying & He has amazing friends out there.

The four of us are plugging right along. We do love and enjoy each other a whole lot!

China, again? After 15 days there (missing the kids) I thought I'd do fine to see it only once. Now, yes, I'm ready to go again.

Stalk away, old friend, stalk away. Hope you and your family are well, too. -Mel

Hey, you totally stole my sorority girl picture pose.

And why does no one have a flower in their hair in a single picture? Respect the oldies.
