After seeing my headless superhero climb out of a vat of tears, I just wanted to be sure everyone knows I'm still up and running. The headless superhero was meant to inspire, not look like a pity party. In the sketches, the vat of tears is actually labeled "reality". Aren't we all superheros? (It's not the cards you are given, but how you play your hand.)
So yeah, I'm still training for Kristiaspplesauce's race. I'm on week three and feeling pretty great about it. This is my lame-o schedule. On NYE I was sharing with friends that I like to run to this:
(YEAH I KNOW battles ARE AWESOME!!!) when before she checked her words, my friend Kristi Green said, "How do you run to that? That would be like running in slow motion!" Yeah, I laughed and backhanded her.
So anyhow, I periodically share blips from my missionary friend's inspiring emails. Mike delivered again:
"I made it thru the daunting Disney World Marathon!
Though I didn’t have to scale the Matterhorn (that ride is in CA), nor Space Mountain or Everest (I did run near each) the race was still very painful and I had a lot of time to think about how old I am.
So I was 3843 out of 14,940 runners. I am using the excuse that due to lack of time to adequately train, injury, pain, and probably age…I missed my target but did finish the race…and happy I did.
A marathon is a great event to give thought to times in the Word when God calls His people to press on to a higher goal, to finish the race to obtain a prize. At the end of this race I got a BEAUTIFUL Mickey Mouse medal (Josiah loved it so much he wore it most of that afternoon, till he broke it, he thinks he sat on it), and I was happy to get the cool medal. If I would not have known, or believed, there was a finish to this race (which at about mile 22 I begin to feel that way) I would have quit, there would be no point to run with no purpose, goal, much less if there was no reward. Many are living their lives this way (no goals, no purpose, no expectation of reward). Even some Christians have lost sight of the goal and reward God has in store, and now are either running aimlessly or giving up the race. But it is worth running the race because of the fact that God has promised the reward (things much better than a Mickey Mouse Medal! ) and the closer we follow the race rules (the Bible) the greater our reward…guaranteed…"
Pretty cool, huh? Here's to all of us who are still running---My love to you all!
