I love how the background changed with whatever color was mostly on my brush. It's easy to see what happens to mostly white when mixed with the main color plus minor amounts of the other two. The canvases all work together despite these differences because they originate with the same (4) basic pigments.
It's like I laughed and told my new friend yesterday: "Whenever people ask me how many colors go on my paintings, I let them know it's usually just primary colors with tints and tones---that I'm not good enough to paint with multiple hues."
It seems like it would be easier to squeeze the actual color I want right out of a tube, right? Wrong. I can never get multiple hues back in agreement. Maybe some day.
