Crystal Bridges

Giant Icicles

Looking through a gallery to the cafe/coffee section.

Finally stopping for food at 3:30. We both forgot about our stomachs for a few hours. (Kinda like the gas we forgot to get because the conversation was so great along the way. Or how about the night we bothered to dead bolt the condo door from the inside with the key still in it on the outside?)
The Crystal Bridges museum buildings were designed by Moshie Safdie. The artful design deserves to be in its own museum. The materials themselves are beautiful and wonderful to touch---skillfully cut, giant, curved wooden beams---and who knew concrete could be so soft? The setting for the museum is breathtaking---green moss, waterfalls, changing elevations, rocks, trees, etc. I am so glad I got to see it in snow and ice the first time, and I can hardly wait to walk the grounds and see the outdoor sculpture. I do wish I would have taken more photos of the interior/exterior views through out the museum, but I was clearly too overwhelmed by its contents.

I know how to get there and back on a Saturday now: Leave at 6, arrive at 10, have coffee at the museum until it opens at 11. Be present with wonder as long as necessary. Hit Chicken Annie's on the way home and be back in my own bed by night. Perfect! There's a Picasso to Pollok exhibit coming this spring and we're already planning for it.
