Last weekend my friend shared with me her family's beautiful, intimate prayer for "Angels in the Wilderness". She shared about a mostly dark vision that was touched with ethereal evidence. She gave me permission to attempt to convey the vision on canvas. These are just the under layers---before the vision gets much darker. Who knows how much if at all these layers will show in the final piece? I just know I woke up with this in my head and knew I had to put this on the canvas.
It's unframed right now, so I had to lie on the floor of my studio to do the gold leafing. As I painted and prayed with and for my friends, I realized how appropriate my posture was. I am as excited about the prayer that is happening while I work on this canvas as I am about whatever God will choose to do through my hands. This is exactly the kind of painting I am honored to paint.
