Mandalas at Mel's

A few friends came over tonight to draw Mandalas with me.

What's a Mandala? Mandala is a fancy word for Circle. Mandalas have been used in ancient art by every religion and group of people for differing purpose, interpretation, etc. Carl Jung, the psychologist who proposed the idea of the "shadow self" or alter ego used Mandalas as an effective form of art therapy.

Tonight I drew for relaxation and solution. Each of us started with a circle or circles and went for it! See how they all turned out different, unique and beautiful as a whole?

See more Mandalas HERE or draw a few for yourself and you will start noticing that they are everywhere.

Thanks again! It was fun and a nice change from my "circular" therapy.

I received a copy of American Quilter magazine yesterday, and inside is an article about and block pattern for Mandalas! Go figure, huh?
